THE LONG COATED AMERICAN SHEPHERD

MY COMMENTS: The LONG COATED German Shepherd is NOT A GERMAN SHEPHERD.

Let me repeat my self... the L. C. is not a GERMAN sheepherding dog.

A GERMAN Shepherd is a dog that was founded in Germany and who has GERMAN standards that are set in stone by the founding club the SUV.

If a dog doesn't RESEMBLE or STACK up to the Breed Standards it is NOT that dog. Somebody is LYING here..

And how do I know this? The GSD has been in existence for over 150 yrs! If everyone bred GSD to GSD all dogs would look pretty much alike after all those years....

Here in lies the problem... BREED REGISTRATION CLUBS

Breed registration clubs sign up a whole bunch of folks who own a particular breed. Say that this breed of dog came from another country and say 300 people went to that country and brought back their dogs...

Now say these 300 people want to start a club so that they can meet together, show off their dogs, talk about their dogs and what ever else they wish to do...

Now, say that since these folks are separated from the MOTHER LAND... and they have no one over hear to guide them, say they agree to register these 300 dogs through the country that they themselves reside in.... AKC.

This registration club says, "sure , we will register you guys! And you guys must follow our rules!"

Boy what a deal huh?

So the first thing that AKC tells this group is that they have to have a club and charter and meetings and 2 shows a year... plus they have to present a BREED STANDARD...

Now these 300 folks do all that is required, they MAKE UP A BREED STANDARD !!! Oh they try to get it pretty close to the Founders Breed Standards, but as humans we are, they don't get it quiet right...

What they have just done is created a NEW BREED OF DOG. But instead of calling this breed the AMERICAN German Shepherd Dog, they call it the GSD. No one contests this and everything runs smoothly for all concerned but the MOTHER LAND ... awwhh , who cares about them right?

This is the beginning of the AMERICAN GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG and the LONG COATED so called German Shepherd Dogs...

oh, so you say "we want a choice" "we want a different look to the same dog, another VARIETY".

With AKC it is possible because as long as the PARENT dogs are registered then the pup can be registered, who cares what it looks like if it is not going to enter the show ring? Heck if it brings the money in and we clear 10.5 billion dollars in one year, we are not going to say anything!"

So this is the beginning of the L/C 's...

There is a CORRECT way to do these kinds of things and the AKC as well as the GSD Club of AMERICA did it all wrong!

The GSD club of AMERICA took a great breed and ran with it under the name of an official breed of dog that was not even theirs to mess around with.

Today there is CHAOS with-in the GSD breed and here in the US the breed no longer exists. Only those gsd's that are registered and recognized by the mother land and carry the PINK registration papers stating such can claim to be GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS!

Just because a couple of words or sentences were changed in a breed standard;

Just because an un-official registration took over the breed club and began doing what ever it is they felt like;

Just because the American GSD show breeders, handlers and judges did what ever they decided that was best for (themselves)... The breed has all but evolved into what is now the AMERICAN SHEPHERD DOG. Long coat, wiry coat, short coat, plush coat, short dogs, tall dogs, you name it.... America has it...

So back to the beginning of this thread (and i say once again)

THE LONG COATED GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG IS NOT A GSD !

In the year to come I predict that the MOTHER LAND will take back their dogs and any and all registries that claim to have GERMAN SHEPHERD DOGS will need to rename their dogs...
